Sometimes life throws curveballs that alter our trajectory. These moments can feel massive, ripping us away from what we know and who we are. But it’s in these moments that we have a choice: to succumb to the disruption or to find new ways to celebrate our traditions, our culture, and ourselves. Siete Family Foods is a testament to the latter. Their story is one of flavor, family, and the enduring power of “juntos”—togetherness.

At Blackhawk, we’re drawn to stories like Siete’s. Stories of Texas-based brands that rise to challenges and build something extraordinary from their roots. When we heard about Siete’s story from How I Built This with Guy Raz, we couldn’t wait to share it with the world.

A cultural void.

The Garza family, like many Mexican-American families in Laredo, Texas, centered their lives around food. Gathering around the table for traditional meals was a cherished ritual, a way to connect with their heritage and with each other.

But when Veronica Garza began battling debilitating autoimmune health issues, including lupus and Hashimoto’s disease, a fundamental part of their lives was disrupted. Her doctors advised a drastic change in diet, one that eliminated grains—a cornerstone of Mexican-American cuisine and, therefore, a cornerstone of the Garza family’s traditions. This dietary restriction wasn’t just a change in what Veronica could eat – it was a severing of a cultural tie, a feeling of being disconnected from her heritage. The absence of tortillas, the inability to share in the familiar comfort of tacos, tamales, and other family favorites, created a void.

Lettuce-wrapped tacos just weren’t the same.

Veronica’s culinary quest begins.

Veronica was determined to find an alternative. With the support of her family, particularly her brother Miguel, and inspired by the traditional cooking wisdom of her Grandma Campos, Veronica began experimenting. She ventured into the kitchen, determined to recreate the flavors she loved, but in a way that nourished her body rather than causing it harm.

The moment her Grandma Campos, a seasoned tortilla maker, declared Veronica’s almond flour tortillas even better than her own was a pivotal one. It was a validation of her efforts and a sign that something special was brewing – not just a new recipe, but a new beginning.

From kitchen experiments to a family business.

That single “better than Grandma’s” endorsement planted the seed for Siete Family Foods. The name “Siete,” chosen to represent the seven members of the Garza family, became synonymous with their commitment to quality, family, and heritage. At that point, Veronica’s grain-free cooking had transformed from a personal quest to reclaim familiar flavors into a mission to share these newfound culinary treasures with others.

Miguel, fresh out of law school and observing the burgeoning natural foods scene, encouraged Veronica to turn her kitchen experiment into a business. They started small, selling the tortillas at the family’s CrossFit gym in Laredo, where the health-conscious clientele quickly became fans.

Recognizing the larger potential market in Austin, Miguel leveraged his connections and began approaching local co-ops in Austin. His efforts paid off and their delicious tortillas quickly found a home on the shelves of Wheatsville Co-op. This initial success fueled their ambition, but it also presented a new set of challenges: how to scale up production in their new Austin kitchen while maintaining the quality and authenticity that made their tortillas so special?

The path to success wasn’t easy. Scaling production, in an unfamiliar kitchen, navigating the complexities of the food industry, and securing shelf space in stores presented significant hurdles. There were moments of doubt, setbacks that felt crushing, like the time their brand-new, expensive tortilla-making equipment broke down, threatening to halt production altogether.

This wasn’t just a machine malfunction – it was a blow to their fledgling business, a moment that could have easily ended their dream. The financial strain of the purchase, combined with the technical difficulties, created a perfect storm of stress. But the Garzas, true to their “juntos” philosophy, faced these challenges together. “Juntos,” meaning “together” in Spanish, is more than just a word for the Garza family – it’s a way of life. It reflects their deep belief in the power of unity, collaboration, and mutual support. It’s the foundation upon which they built their family and, now, their business. And it’s encapsulated in their guiding principle: “Family first, family second, business third.”

The broken equipment incident, while a moment of intense pressure and even tears, became a testament to their resilience. They rallied, supporting each other, and found a way forward. They rolled up their sleeves, literally, and went back to hand-pressing tortillas until they could find a solution. This commitment to their product, their family, and their vision kept them going.

Siete Family Foods tortillas hang on shelf in grocery store.

Siete: a recipe for success.

From this adversity came great rewards: successful scaling, growing retail presence, rave reviews, and ultimately, the recognition of a major player in the food industry. Siete’s commitment to quality and authenticity resonated with consumers, leading to rapid growth and expansion. Their grain-free tortillas, once a kitchen experiment, found their way onto the shelves of major retailers, and their product line expanded to include a variety of Mexican-American staples, all with the same focus on clean ingredients and delicious flavors.

In 2024, this success culminated in the acquisition of Siete Family Foods by PepsiCo. But the journey didn’t end there. Even with this significant milestone, the Garza family knew that continued innovation, expanding product lines, and, most importantly, staying true to their core values was required at every step of the way.

They understood that their success was about more than just profit – it was about the impact they were making. The Garza family focused not just on the “what” but the “how” of their business, ensuring their methods reflected their values.

Siete beyond the plate.

This commitment to their community led them to establish the Juntos Fund, a program designed to support and empower other Latino entrepreneurs, recognizing the importance of lifting up others as they had been lifted up. And their commitment to their heritage also led them to a powerful partnership with Eva Longoria, a celebrated actress, director, and activist who shared their passion for amplifying Latino voices and stories.

Siete’s story extends beyond the plate. Through their Juntos Fund, they’re empowering other Latino entrepreneurs, recognizing the importance of giving back to the community that has supported them.

This dedication to heritage and community resonates deeply with the team at Blackhawk. We believe in the power of Texas-based brands with authentic stories, and we’re proud to support businesses like Siete that are making a positive impact.

The Siete Family legacy: an inspiration to us all.

Siete Family Foods shows us that challenges can be transformative. They remind us of the power of family, the importance of cultural pride, and the strength that comes from working together. Their journey is an inspiration, a testament to the fact that we can honor our traditions while embracing new possibilities, creating something meaningful and lasting from even the most difficult of circumstances.

What to expect working with a top Austin SEO company. https://blackhawkdm.com/top-austin-seo-company/ Wed, 25 Oct 2023 20:30:53 +0000 https://blackhawk20241.wpenginepowered.com/?p=15500

Built in Austin, an online community for local tech companies and startups has released their list of top SEO companies in Austin for 2023 – and Blackhawk is on it! We’re incredibly thankful for the opportunity to work with clients all around Austin, the state of Texas, and the U.S. to provide them with expert SEO services ranging from Technical SEO, to Local SEO, On-site SEO, Off-page SEO, and Content Marketing.

Ready to take a peek at the process of working with an SEO company with years of experience in the space? Keep reading to learn more!

An SEO audit is the necessary first step.

A professional SEO company understands that SEO is not a one-size-fits-all process. Needs and strategies can differ greatly across businesses depending on your goals, business lifecycle stage, time in market, previous website work, and other characteristics – and that’s not even beginning to think about the 200 currently identified ranking factors.

So, how do we tailor SEO strategies and services in a way that follows best practices, aligns with your business’ offering and growth goals, and boosts your search engine visibility in a sustainable way? In order to provide the greatest value and achieve winning results with SEO, Blackhawk conducts a full SEO and web audit prior to any monthly servicing.

Our expert SEOs look at optimization through the lens of four buckets: Technical, On-site, Local, and Off-page. The SEO audit analyzes the space you occupy online in a holistic way, allowing us to formulate intentional, concrete strategies that are fully customized to your specific needs. Our SEO tech stack allows us to get an in-depth understanding of previous work done on your site, and the current state of your digital presence.

Let’s review just a few key points that each bucket of SEO focuses on.

Technical SEO

During the technical portion of an SEO audit, the goal is to examine your website and uncover functionality, speed, and other performance issues, including:

Errors and redirects: it is vital for any 404 errors to be resolved, and 301 redirects set up properly. Similar to page speed, this is a technical SEO factor as well as a UX factor.

On-site SEO

Many consider keywords to be the basis of on-site SEO – the truth is, on-site SEO encompasses a breadth of frontend and backend elements that impact search engine rankings. Though many of these elements are keyword and content-based, there are also UX, sitemap architecture, and interlinking-related components that are analyzed during the on-site portion of an SEO audit:

  • Page titles and meta descriptions: every page should include a page title and meta description that follows SEO best practices for character count, keyword inclusion, and accurately communicates the subject matter of the page.
  • Sitemap architecture, UX, and user journey: though these three components differ in their exact definition, they all work together to ensure that a user can easily, quickly, and efficiently navigate around your site – after all, conversion is the ultimate goal.
  • Keyword research and targeting: an SEO audit sets up our team for success by analyzing your current keyword rankings, including weaknesses and opportunities, as well as recent improvements and declines.
Series of icons showing directories and social profiles, an element of off-site SEO.

Local SEO

Contrary to popular belief, local SEO extends past your Google Business Profile. Blackhawk’s SEO audit hones in on any localized digital data we can find surrounding your business, including:

  • Localized website pages: similar to product or service pages, service area website pages hone in on a specific keyword set for customers looking for a solution “near me”.
  • Social media channels: having social media profiles that exist across the web can be a useful tool to let customers know where you’re located. These profiles must also be linked on relevant platforms including GBP and your website.

Citations and listings: your NAP (name, address, phone number) should match up across the Internet on any business listing websites (think BBB, Yelp, Angi, GBP, and other platforms).

Off-page SEO

Off-page SEO encompasses the position of your website within your space, as well as the relationships your website has with other domains, URLs, and online channels.

  • Backlink analytics: our tech stack allows us to run a scan on your existing backlinks, giving us an idea of your backlink profile from three viewpoints – reputation, authority, and naturalness. From there, we are able to make recommendations for improving your backlink profile.
  • Domain authority: though domain authority is gained by your unique domain over time, it is possible to optimize how quickly your domain gains authority with proper SEO techniques.
  • Off-page opportunity analysis: backlinks are about quality – not quantity. Blackhawk is able to ensure the health of your backlink profile by disavowing spammy links as well as suggesting tactics for gaining high-quality ones, including guest posting opportunities.

Blackhawk’s SEO services leverage a variety of industry-leading tools to gain insight into the technical performance of your website – GTMetrix, PageSpeed Insights, Screaming Frog, Google Search Console, Agency Analytics Site Auditor, and more.

We build completely custom SEO strategies.

Because Blackhawk’s extensive SEO audit process allows us to dive deep into not just your website, but your entire digital presence, we are able to uncover specific issues, insights, opportunities, and weaknesses to base your SEO strategy around.

With so many factors to consider, our SEO services deliver anything but an out-of-the-box solution. A few of the advantages of partnering with Austin’s top SEO company include:

  • All four buckets, all the time: consistency is key with successful SEO. Your strategy will account for technical, on-site, local, and off-page elements of SEO, with each being touched in some capacity monthly or quarterly.
  • Expert copywriting and subject matter expertise: our team of content marketing experts and certified technical writers is able to craft engaging, keyword-focused web content that provides users and search engines with information to further your position as an industry expert and help customers make a purchase decision.
  • A full-service marketing partnership: given that SEO often stretches past standard website and content marketing needs, working with a full-service marketing company like Blackhawk gives you access to social media marketing, web design, web development, and other marketing expertise.

How to do SEO: just do what feels right. https://blackhawkdm.com/how-to-do-seo/ Tue, 05 Sep 2023 20:52:21 +0000 https://blackhawk20241.wpenginepowered.com/?p=15306

One can’t really talk about SEO without mentioning SEO King, Brian Dean. His blog, Backlinko, is a hub of information on the practice of SEO, complete with highly optimized articles, helpful guides, and so much SEO your head could explode.

If the behemoth that is his SEO blog still doesn’t tickle your fancy, he’s got a whole YouTube channel dedicated to the subject, too.

Simplifying how to do SEO… too much?

Recently, Brian Dean shared his wisdom on a “how to do SEO” podcast on Hack the Entrepreneur, hosted by Jon Nastor. We took notes on it as we listened, despite being explicitly directed not to do so. The conclusion of said podcast includes Brian Dean saying something along the lines of, “when it comes to how to do SEO, just do what feels right.”

Now, we’re going to say something controversial here. We don’t actually think that’s true.

If you Google “how to do SEO”, you’ll be met with 1.4 billion search results of in-depth, step-by-step guides from respected sources like HubSpot, Ahrefs, SEMrush, and Moz. Even Google has an article that teaches SEO – and they’re the monster we’re all battling here!

The fact of the matter is, actually doing SEO – and doing it well – is backed by years of research, experience, testing, and trial and error – emphasis on the error.

We can understand where Brian Dean is coming from. When you spend years and years in this space, it’s inevitable to feel like all of the knowledge you have accumulated is base level, globally understood, and dare we say – even easy.

Two SERPs, one local and one general, showing top results for “digital marketing agency austin”.

“How to do SEO” starts with learning about SEO.

We’re not saying this podcast is leading people astray – we would actually highly recommend it for those who are looking to get started with SEO. There are even a few helpful tidbits that we found useful:

  • More is not always better – it’s about time we edit the old saying “content is king” to “quality content is king”.
  • Only write about what you know – helpful for those who are already subject matter experts tasked with learning how to do SEO.
    • Brian Dean follows this up by admitting that he doesn’t write about technical aspects of SEO simply because he doesn’t really know about them.
  • Have something to contribute – not only do you have to know enough to write a full article about it, but some sort of conclusion has to be made – a point of view must be stated.
  • Don’t focus too hard on keywords – hyperfocusing on one or two specific keywords is a mistake that’s been made far and wide. Google’s smarter than you think. You don’t need to spoon-feed it the exact keyword 16 times over in a blog post.
  • Update posts after they’re live – this is also a legitimate strategy, sending recency signals to Google.
    • One callout here is that, like with many SEO practices, this is only to be done in moderation. Google takes its sweet time indexing “new” content, so you can take yours making quality updates.
Graphic with SERP screenshot of a featured snippet, explaining its importance.

Diving deeper into the world of SEO.

But all of this is just the beginning. Blackhawk’s team of SEO experts have compiled a list of SEO ranking factors, things to keep in mind, and notes on how Google evaluates your website. It’s based off of this Backlinko article written by Brian Dean himself.

To save you the reading time, let’s break down a few of the key points:

  • Website performance and speed – Google treats your site like a user would, analyzing Core Web Vitals. This includes things like page speed and load times, Cumulative Layout Shift, JavaScript and CSS optimization, and so much more.
  • Content quality and keyword targeting – this is the piece Brian Dean focuses on the most, but it’s only a small piece of the SEO puzzle. Keyword research and strategy help you create quality content, and drive results when supported by the other things in this list.
    • Pro tip: websites that rank well for a variety of keywords perform better as a whole, so don’t get too in the weeds with one hyper specific keyword.
  • User and search engine-friendly design – just like website speed and performance, the usability of your website impacts how users (and Google) view it. UX design is about creating a logical site architecture, visual hierarchy, and clear user journey.
  • NAP consistency and citations – your NAP is your business’ name, address, and phone number. It should be clearly displayed across your site, on your Google Business Profile, and in any local search citations across the web. Oh, and it has to be up to date and consistent in every location.
  • Backlinks and authority – if your site is viewed as an information hub, trusted resource, or authoritative figure across the web, Google will see it and reward you for it.
    • Pro tip: don’t buy your backlinks – ever. Black hat marketing of this nature can easily cause Google to penalize you and tank your rankings.

Across SEO Strategy, Technical SEO, Local SEO, On-site SEO, Off-site SEO, and even design and user experience (UX), there are hundreds of things you can tweak, change, analyze, report on, update, and optimize. If your head is spinning, that’s normal. SEO is quite literally a full-time job.

All of this to say, SEO is a big, wide world. There are hours and hours of research, reading, and familiarizing yourself with the components of SEO before an expert is able to “just do what feels right.”

Graphic depicting the downfalls of AI as they relate to SEO.

Doing SEO right in an AI-saturated world.

Another thing that both SEO experts and beginners must remember is that AI doesn’t always bring its A-game. Though platforms like ChatGPT make it easier to write outlines (another one of Brian Dean’s helpful tips), Google is always – at least – one step ahead.

The onslaught of AI-generated content doesn’t satisfy Google, making the “just do what feels right” mentality all the more treacherous. It’s even been stated that loading up your site with AI-generated content without using a human editor is against Google’s guidelines.

In the same way that you can’t learn how to do SEO by “doing what feels right” overnight, you also can’t learn to write well, or even direct ChatGPT on how to do it for you, overnight. Check out some of the resources our team of SEO copywriting experts have used to establish our expertise:

How to do SEO: let SEO experts take care of it for you.

A note for Brian Dean and other SEOs who are able to “just do what feels right”. Don’t underestimate the impact of the years you’ve spent getting to this point. Your input is valuable, and no piece of information is too small or too obvious.

Google Business Profile vicinity update: what you need to know. https://blackhawkdm.com/google-business-profile-vicinity-update/ Tue, 17 May 2022 20:24:44 +0000 https://blackhawk20241.wpenginepowered.com/?p=14107

What Is The Vicinity Update?

On November 30th, 2021, Google released an algorithm update that changed a lot in the Google My Business world. This update has now been deemed the “Vicinity Update”.  The Vicinity Update affected profile rankings on searches that came from outside of their business address radius, as well as affected companies with no physical address.

The vicinity update also came with a change to the name of the platform from  “Google My Business” to “Google Business Profile”. This is the 6th time Google has changed the name.

Before Google My Business was the return of Google Places, and before that it was Google+ Local. Prior to that, Google Places made its first showing, and that’s how we come back to the original name: Google Local (no “+”). Needless to say, Google loves to switch it up.

This name update came with some new, in-platform features that we were able to access right away. These features included:

  • Claiming and verifying your Google Business Profile directly in Google Search and Google Maps
  • Call History officially launching in US and Canada
  • Messaging that can be done directly from Google Search
  • Message read receipts that can be controlled in Google Search and Maps

On top of these features being added, Google also seemed to change the algorithm for local map packs. The biggest change we noticed was the proximity rankings. The purpose of proximity rankings is for your business profile to appear on Google Maps depending on where a user is located. There are specific ways that we optimize your profile for this to happen.

Google seemed to have prioritized vicinity over all factors and this is why many businesses in service industries that don’t have a physical address OR companies that service a different location than their address saw a big drop in rankings from November to December.

How The Proximity Update Affected Our Clients

What did this update do for the local search algorithm? That is the real question here, since many businesses have seen an immediate impact on their profile since November, and most of it was negative.  (KOP example)

Here we see a business we service with no physical location, just a service area. The above rankings show the timeline from November 2021 to December 2021. You can see (particularly in the middle dots) how much loss we saw in just one month. Two dots went from ranking 5th and 3rd to now ranking 20+. These are some of the immediate results of the new algorithm brought to this profile and others like it. Overall, these changes weren’t drastic on a small scale.

On a larger scale, we can see a significant difference in rankings outside of this specific business’s address. This was the major affect the Vicinity Update had on solid businesses that had been ranking very well regardless of location of address.

How To Optimize Your Local SEO Efforts To Take Advantage of This Update

To reach all corners of your service area, you will need to work from the inside out to get results. The good news is that everyone has been affected – if your rankings have seen negative effects, you are not alone. Now, the question becomes, how do we take advantage of this?

We start with finding the neighborhoods in the service areas we are not ranking well. These neighborhoods are where we start with creating content revolving around them. Photos of your business providing services in those neighborhoods and creating services and products on your GBP that mention those neighborhoods.

Another useful tip is creating a local neighborhood page for your website. These few tips can help Google crawl your site and give authority to you providing services in these areas and hopefully show impact on your rankings.

Beware! Google Business Profile hijacking scams. https://blackhawkdm.com/google-business-profile-hijacking-scams/ Fri, 01 Apr 2022 01:37:08 +0000 https://blackhawk20241.wpenginepowered.com/?p=13979

Google Profile Hijacking Explained

Business owners are being targeted by scammers trying to gain access to their Google Business profiles. When the scammers get control of the profile, they can alter the information or even shut down the profile completely. At Blackhawk, we have seen a significant uptick in “Google Profile Hijacking” attacks.

Why Hijack A Google Business Profile?

Scammers want access to your Google Business profile to do any of the following:

  • Alter your information to be inaccurate, which can hurt your search rankings.
  • Change the phone number to a number they control and use it to sell your leads to a competitor – or even back to you!
  • Shut down your profile to remove it from Google Maps and/or Search.

How Are They Hijacking Profiles?

Email Access Requests

There are numerous ways a scammer can gain access to your Google Business Profile. Most of them involve the scammer requesting direct access to your Google profile.

For example, below is a screenshot of a request that, upon further inspection of the email address, would be easily identified as SPAM:

Requests like the one above would be easily identified and rejected by most agencies and business owners. However, these scammers can get more sophisticated, like in the example below:

Even in the above example, business owners typically reject the request – sometimes, however, they accept it by accident or without looking too closely at the email address.

For any business owner working with an agency, their servicing team may confuse a request like this as the business owner adding a user to their profile.

In either case, once this request is accepted, the business owner is in danger of being hijacked and losing control over their profile.

Even here at Blackhawk, these requests have become extremely common, to the point where our agency rejects ten or more of these across about 50 Google My Business profiles on a weekly basis.

The good news is, agencies and business owners are becoming more aware of these scams. The downside, however, is that since the effectiveness of these requests have decreased over time, scammers have evolved with more elaborate schemes.

$99 Google Reverification Scam

A few of our clients have been reached out to by scammers disguising themselves as Google My Business representatives. In most cases they will claim that their business isn’t ranking well since they aren’t “verified” or that they are suspended for specific keywords.

They even go as far to say  that they need to pay a  $99 reverification fee to get their business “visible again”

Fortunately for our client, we have their profile on our Google My Business Assurance program which helps  prevent these attacks from being successful. For any business owner that doesn’t have SPAM blockers set up, as soon as they text over the code they will lose their profile.

How To Prevent These Attacks?

At the minimum, you need someone monitoring your profile daily.

If an individual requests access to your profile and you don’t reject it, there is a chance Google will automatically push through the access to the scammer.

For business owners who don’t have the time or staff in place to monitor their Google profile, we have a solution! Blackhawk offers a Google Business Profile Assurance program that includes the following:

  • SPAM protection – software that blocks these requests from getting to the profile.
  • Daily monitoring – our team acts as your second line of defense to prevent attacks that slip through our software.
  • Data backups – we back up all Google Business data including reviews, photos, products, services, etc., which is very useful if a profile is altered by a user or Google.
  • Free reinstatements/profile recovery – despite our best efforts, if a profile is compromised, we take care of the reinstatement process so you don’t have to worry about it!

The Bottom Line

In a lot of industries, having a strong Google presence is required to get leads.

The unfortunate fact is, these profile hijacking scams only continue to grow. If you have any questions about keeping your profile safe from these attacks, schedule a profile audit by reaching out to us today!

The best way to track local SEO: Local Falcon scans. https://blackhawkdm.com/tracking-local-seo-with-local-falcon/ Tue, 29 Mar 2022 00:10:43 +0000 https://blackhawk20241.wpenginepowered.com/?p=13975

Track Your Google Map Pack Rankings with Local Keyword Scans

Local Keyword Scans is a tool you can leverage to see Google map pack rankings for specific keywords – for your company, as well as your competitors. For example, if your company is in the HVAC industry, a keyword search you may want to track would be “HVAC near me.”

The Local Falcon scan tool pulls results based on the specific location you choose for the middle point.  When you run the scan, the rankings are plotted onto a map, allowing you to visualize 3 pack rankings at the most granular level. These scans can be very beneficial for many reasons.

Examples of Local Keyword Scans

Screenshot from Local Falcon, a Google Business Profile analytics tool.

In this example, we are able to see on a 7×7 grid with a 12 mile radius how Blackhawk ranks with the keyword “digital marketing agency.” This report pulls 3 main metrics:

  • ARP (Average Ranking Position): The average rank position of the business for only data points that the business was found within the top 20.
  • ATRP (Average Total Ranking Position): The average rank position of a business across all searched data points, even if it was not found within the top 20 results.
  • SoLV (Share of Local Voice): The percentage of data points where the business ranks in the top 3 positions. Over time, SoLV is a great metric to identify and understand a business’ brand lift. This is also the most important metric since the top 3 is the goal for all data points.

To learn more about how to read and interpret these map scans, we suggest checking out DBA Platform’s blog “How do I read local rank with Local Falcon’s scan reports?”

How to Increase Google Business Profile Rankings and Visibility

You may be wondering, what do we do with all of this information? In our process, our number one priority is to rank in the first position near the address listed on our Google Business Profile.

Since Google’s new proximity algorithm update, it has been made clear that proximity (distance to the person searching) is now king in the map pack rankings. This is why it is very important to be ranking in the top 3 within a couple mile radius of the businesses location.

Step 1: Analyzing the Map Scan Report

We first start with viewing the report. We identify where we rank overall in the radius out of the 20 competitors listed. For the competitors that are ranked higher, we audit those profiles for the following information:

  • Business categories
  • Business address
  • Quantity and quality of customer reviews
  • Products and services offered

This is the best method to understand why your business may be ranking lower than some of your competitors. We identify what they’re doing well – and then outdo them at their own game – to improve your profile’s ranking.

Screenshot from Local Falcon, a Google Business Profile analytics tool.

Step 2: Identifying Areas for Improvement

Secondly, we identify which areas in the map we are ranking just outside of the top 3.  Typically, these would be dots that are between 4-6 , since they are the closest to being in the local 3 pack and can give our business much more visibility.

We think about it this way: the boost in visibility going from rank position 15 to 8 is very little compared to going from 7 to 3!

Screenshot from Local Falcon, a Google Business Profile analytics tool.

Step 3: Altering the SEO Optimization Plan From the Data

From our analysis, we identify which neighborhoods (shown as dots on the map) we want to focus our optimization efforts on. A few examples of optimizations include:

  • Write a Google Post about servicing the specific area.
  • Create products or services focused on these neighborhoods.
  • Create a local neighborhood page for the website.
  • Identify a good backlink relevant to the industry and area we are targeting.

Importance of Scan Tracking
